Profile: MSTRPLN

There’s a lot to be said to have the power to create something and when you see it, you just know who did it. With his minimalist design sensibilities, Stefan Dukaczewski, or MSTRPLN as he’s otherwise known, has that power and uses it over a slew of clients. The majority of his work hovers around the streetwear sphere and the work is just so crisp, clean, and consistently good. He only landed in Ottawa a year ago, leaving behind a position at design powerhouse Sid Lee back in Montreal, but he’s still doing his thing and doing it well. Check out all the goodness after the break.

This is such a typical Ottawa-based fanboy post, Steve.

Some talented designer enters the local scene, dragging his notable portfolio along with him, and all of a sudden he’s placed on a pedestal, featured on your site, and considered part of Ottawa’s design culture.

Isn’t this site about raising the “creative profile” of our city? This would have been much more relevant if you focused on his work done at Teknision.

Does he do good work? Yep. Does he live here? You bet. There. Done. All it takes. And don’t worry, Teknision has their own post coming up.

And just so you know, Disqus let’s you login through any of your social media channels when commenting, making it easy to put your name with your comment.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Ottawa-based fanboy??? Meet Ottawa-based troll. Who trolls a local design blog? So just to clarify the rule here (according to hater comment), its not cool to write about transplants who set up shop in our city? Someone should tell that to New York, Toronto, LA, and London, cause ain’t nobody from those places, everyone is a transplant, and everyone is psyched on that. Plus if your just going to write about Ottawa natives, that talent pool is going to shallow out pretty fast. Theres only so many Algonquin college grads every year. Meanwhile if people are moving here from Montreal to set up shop— I want to read about that, cause if the talent is coming here maybe it means I don’t have to leave to succeed.

Good point artwar. Further to your point – a major reason for this site (and group in general) is to attract talent from other cities to move to Ottawa. It helps to shed light on the people that are doing this.

Stefan deserves every bit of this attention.
